I've been thinking about checking out some of Rod's work and was debating whether to buy the Storyteller box set. Is this the way to go or is there another retrospective that is more effective? Thanx in advance.

    You need this:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=music

Then you can pretty much say you have all of the solo Rod you need.

Obviously you will need to get all of the Faces material, and the Jeff Beck stuff. But that is really it then. Avoid everything that came out after these Mercury recordings.

I like a lot of his late 80's/early 90's stuff too. Songs like Forever Young, Downtown Train, and Broken Arrow. Dig it all. Rules out that compilation. Sorry bro'.

That's not a comp. man. It is a VERY affordable way of getting the stuff that is considered his best material. Get that set, and then get whatever you need for the 80's-90's stuff, and you will be styling! If you like Quireboys, then you REALLY do need this Mercury comp., and the Faces material.

Really though, in all honesty, with Rod, it is REALLY hard to go wrong, IMO.
